Biography

Marcel Bleustein was born the August 21st 1906 and died on April 11th 1996 with Paris. Autodidact, sold pieces of furniture on the Barbès boulevard as of the 14 years age, it quickly launches out in the Publicité (the " réclame" time) to found Publicis in 1926 in a back-yard above a butchery in one 2 parts cooks Montmartre Suburb. In 1935 Marcel Bleustein buys the private radio station Radio L which it renames Radio City. He introduces in France the first radio news and allows Edith Piaf, brought by Jacques Canetti, artistic director of the station, to sing with the radio for the first time of his career. The station gives to Marcel Bleustein a considerable capacity and gives access to him the eminent personages of the State which include/understand finally the political importance of the radiophonic medium. During the invasion of Austria by Hitler, Leon Blum, then President of the French Council are awaked in middle of the night and are led to Radio City to carry out there the first comment of hot topicality and on line of the history of the radio Frenchwoman.

It Marie with Sophie Valiant, grand-daughter of Valiant Edouard, minister of Jules Ferry and has three children, Marie-Francoise, deceased in 1968 in an car accident, Elisabeth, wife of Robert Badinter and Michele.

On arrival of the Germans in Paris, it escapes and loses Publicis and Radio Quoted, declared " Juives" companies; by the authorities S. After his meeting with George Gallup, inventor of the surveys, met before the war in New York, it introduces finally the public opinion polls in France and creates in Publicis a department of research based on revolutionary American methods. Thanks to him, publicity becomes a serious and respected profession. It is also the first with launching to France the concept of the drugstores to American in 1957, whose remains the Publicis drugstore on the Fields-Élysées in Paris. From the Seventies Publicis becomes international then total to become, under the impulse of Maurice Levy, successor of Marcel Bleustein-Strainer, the fourth world group of communication.

Its work also remains through the foundation Bleustein-Strainer for the vocation (created in 1960 pennies the term: Foundation of the Vocation) which each year decrees purses with young people.

An emission, the crossing of the century turned in 1988, will be devoted to him to its death in 1996 on the chain TF1.
