Robert Morane , known as Bob is the hero of a series of novels, then of cartoons, created in 1953 by the Belgian novelist Henri Vernes. Conceived at the beginning like a kind of adventurer semi-dispenser of justice semi-secret agent, the character evolves/moves in one half-century and is implied in increasingly tarabustées adventures of exotic voyages, espionage and science fiction.

French with the osseous face, the hair cut out of brush and the gray, nyctalope, skilful eyes with the jiu-jitsu and the handling of the weapons, Bob Morane is eternally old thirty-three years. Wheel floating of espionage and the shady adventure, it has relations in the secret services (like the secret agent American Herbert Gains of the CIA or the quintuple agent with the gold teeth Roman Orgonetz), at the most coloured representatives demobilized soldiers and in all the underworlds of the world. Bob Morane also cultivates, with a galantery old fashion and a fidelity enough méritoire, a certain number of female friendships. Among those, the journalist with the Chronicles of Londre Sophia Paramount, Tania Orloff, niece of the yellow Shade, and mysterious and heady the Miss Ylang-ylang, omnipotent den mother of terrible the Organization Smog, are most remarkable. The totality of these relations are bourrues, tender or condescending, but always completely pure. The great love of its life is Tania Orloff, but they like like Romeo and Juliette considering they are not in the same camp (see the yellow article Ombre).

Bill Ballantine, giant red-headed with slang liveliness, is the untiring friend of Bob Morane. Eternally old of thirty-four years, he is chicken stockbreeder in Scotland and large amateur of whiskey ZAT 77. This faithful henchman, strapping man, grognard and tonic, call his famous companion “ordering” in reference to a common service at the time of the Second world war to which it is less and less refers as the years pass, and this, in spite of the unexplained fact that this nickname perdure.
