Marcadet - Fishmongers (subway of Paris)

Marcadet - Fishmongers is a station of the Métro of Paris on the lines 4 and 12, in the 18th district of Paris.

The station

There were in the beginning two distinct stations:
  • Marcadet , open in 1908 on line 4,
  • Poissonniers , open in 1916 on the line has North-South.

Following the absorption of this company by CMP in 1930, a corridor of correspondence is built between the two stations. With its startup the August 25th 1931, the two stations take their current name, Marcadet - Fishmongers .

It thus bears the name of the two following streets:

  • the street Marcadet holds its name of a locality, Mercade, located at the Vault Denis Saint. Perhaps that one held to with it a market, Marcadus, at the time of the fair of Lendit;
  • the street of the Fishmongers is the old way of the Fishmongers borrowed since 1307 by the fish merchants fished in the the North Sea.
