Marc Seberg

Marc Seberg is a group of Rock French of the Années 1980 resulting from the separation of the group of Rennes Marquis de Sade. Marc Seberg confirmed in some albums the talent and the power of the inspiration of his leader Philippe Pascal.

History

After the separation of the group Marquis de Sade, the singer, author and type-setter Philippe Pascal finds the Anzia guitarist present on the first album “Dantzig twist” of Marquis de Sade. Their first disc “83” product by Steve Hillage (ex-Gong) includes/understands a resumption of Kurt Weill “Surabaya Johnny”, a transfer of Joy Division “Personnalities”, a short dodecaphonic improvisation “The Shriek”, and a tube “Sylvie”.

The arrival of Pascale Berre to the keyboards for the second album the Song Of the grounds fabric the sound and gives oxygen (“a break”) to compositions with the heavy tendencies and hypnotic (“Gift' T fail me” and “wings of glass”).

The third album is that of maturity (Lumières & Trahisons).

Through their fourth opus the End Of the Nerves, left in 1989, Marc Seberg seeks the recognition of the general public. One will notice in particular the piece " Something, Noir" , left in individual .

The group separates in 1991.

Formation

  • Philippe Pascal: song

  • Anzia: guitar
  • Pierre Thomas: battery
  • Pierre Corneau: low
  • Pascale Berre: keyboard (starting from the second album)

Destiny

It is interesting to compare the destinies of Marc Seberg with that of Simple Minds: similar musical style, same producers (Steve Hillage and John Leckie), even recording company (Virgin), but notoriety without any comparison, to appreciate the treatment difference between the French and Anglo-Saxon artists. " professionnels" French show biz systematically scorned any musical expression “Rock' Roll” (since, at least, its invention).

Two examples:

  • at the time of the exit of the “Song of the grounds”, Marc Seberg is sent in round in… South America.
  • of the prolific scene “Of Rennes” of beginning of the year 80 (Marquis de Sade (2 albums), Ubik (1 maximum album and 1), Naked the (1 album), Plot Bronswick (4 albums and 1 maximum), October (2 albums), Red Orchestra (2 albums), Sheers Doo Too Cool (2 albums), Sax Pustuls (1 maximum)…), only Etienne Daho (8 albums) persists.
