Marc Ouellet

Marc Ouellet (June 8th 1944 -) is a cardinal and catholic Archevêque of Quebec. He became cardinal the October 21st 2003.
Native of La Motte, close to Amos, it was ordered priest in the Société of Saint-Sulpice the May 25th 1968. He made career in teaching a long time, becoming vice-chancellor of the Grand seminar of Montreal in 1990.
In 2001, it entered the Roman Curie as Secrétaire of the pontifical council for the promotion of the Christian unit , the pope Jean-Paul II having personally devoted it bishop.
The November 15th 2002, he became archbishop of Quebec and primacy of Canada. In interview, he criticized excesses of the Quiet revolution.
Ouellet is associated with the review Communio, a theological newspaper created by Hans the USSR von Balthasar, celebrates Swiss theologist of the 20th century. Ouellet wished a return of the eucharistic Adoration and Gregorian chants in the liturgical celebration. The October 21st 2003, it was named Cardinal-priest of the church Sainte Marie de Traspontine with Rome.
Monseigneur Ouellet can speak the German , the English, the Spanish , the French, the Italian and the Portuguese. He is known for his work missionaries in South America. In 2004, it published one entitled book God more marvellous than the dreams .
It was eligible at the time of the Conclave of 2005. With some recoveries, it appeared in the lists of the papabiles , in particular in that of the National Catholic Reporter which placed it among the twenty most probable candidates at the succession of Jean-Paul II. It has good relationships with Benoît XVI, which could visit well him at the time of the world Congrès eucharistic which will be held in Quebec in 2008.
In 2007, the Ouellet cardinal requires a reasonable Accommodement for the catholics of the province of Quebec. He believes that is crucial for the religious future of the nation. November 21st, it made act of repentance for certain abuses in the past.
Following the death of the mairess of Quebec, Andree P. Boucher, it is the cardinal Marc Ouellet who was elected in order to celebrate the funeral with the Notre-Dame basilica, of Quebec.
