Marc Mullion

Marc Meneau (March 16th 1943 with Avallon) is a Grand chief cook French of the restaurant the Hope with the Holy Father in the Yonne in Burgundy. 19/20 with the Gault and Millau and Three stars with the Guide Michelin since 1983.

Biography

Marc enters in 1961 to the hotel school of Strasbourg. Self-educated cook, it quickly takes again the coffee-grocer of his mother with the Holy Father in the Yonne which it transforms while restoring with his wife Francoise (girl of Burgundian restorer).

1972 it obtains its first star with the Guide Michelin and then decides to move its restaurant in a residence larger than it baptizes the Hope on old a place of worship druidic. In 1975 a second Michelin star is decreed to him.

1983 Marc Meneau is elected “Better French Cook of the Year” and obtains 3 stars with the Guide Michelin like 19/20 with the Gault and Millau.

He plants 16 hectares of vine intended to make revive the Vignoble of Vézelay. 1999 it loses its third Michelin star due to irregularity of quality but preserves 19/20 at Gault and Millau.

2003 it founds Entrevignes , a Bar of vine growers opposite the Hope . The idea is puffed up for him by Serge Gainsbourg, familiar of the places.

2004 Marc Meneau finds finally his third star. He joins in the tread the industrialist François Schneider to create a new gastronomical complex of leisures: “Fields of the Hope and Roncemay” with Aillant-on-Tholon in the Yonne with golf, luxury hotel and gourmet restaurant.

2007 63 years old, its company “SDER” is put in Compulsory liquidation by the bankruptcy court of Auxerre assigned by URSSAF for non-payment of 600.000 € of National insurance contributions and more than 8 € million of Dette S following very important loans and a reputation of bad manager.

In March 1991 Serge Gainsbourg decides to spend its last days to the restaurant of Marc Meneau. All brigades of cooks and waiters of the restaurant his to its burial on March 7th 1991 with the Cemetery of Montparnasse to Paris.
