Marc Guillaume Alexis Vadier
Marc Guillaume Alexis Vadier (born the July 17th 1736 with Pamiers - died the December 14th 1828 with Brussels), called the large inquisitor , is a French politician, whose activity was exerted for the period of the Révolution.
Wire of a receiver of the Ten-per-cent taxes of the clergy, it makes career in the army, then acquires in 1770 a responsibility of advising with the seat présidial its birthplace. Deputy with the General states of 1789, it sits with the constitutional ones with the constituent Assembly. Re-elected with the Convention in 1792, he proposes that Foix, Pamiers and Saint-Bosoms is chief town alternatively. He belongs to the Montagne and votes the death of Louis XVI without call nor deferment.
Starting from Fructidor year I (September 1793), it becomes, as a member of the Comité of general security, a true armed wing of the Terreur. In Nivôse (January), he denounces the embezzlements of Fabre d' Églantine, Chabot and their accomplices.
In Germinal (April), it is in favor of the pitiless repression of the mutinies of prisoners. The June 14th 1794, it reads with Convention the file with load, made up of false evidence, against Catherine Théot, thus ridiculing the mysticism of Robespierre, precipitant its fall.
Always also “malicious”, following the insurrection of germinal year III, he is condemned to the deportation with Billaud-Game preserve, Collot d' Herbois and Barère, but manages to flee and to hide until the Amnistie voted with the separation of Convention.
Under the Directory, it gives its support for the Conjuration of Equal the of Babeuf, but is discharged by the High-Court of Vendôme. It remains however in prison until year VIII (1799) then is made forget.
Appointed during the Hundred Days, during which he votes additional, he is exiled like regicide in 1816.
