Marc Dorion
Marc Dorion (born on June 22nd, 1987 with Ottawa) is a player of professional Hockey on toboggan. It belonged to the Canadian team of hockey to the Jeux paralympic of Turin in 2006 where it gained the Gold medal. He is a former student of the catholic secondary School of Plantagenet with Plantagenet, Ontario
Biography
Marc Dorion was born with a congenital disease called the Spina bifida what limits the use of its legs. He started to practice the Hockey on toboggan as of age the four years and practical this sport since. Marc made his secondary studies at the catholic secondary School of Plantagenet (finishing class of 2005) and it has very beautiful memories of them. At this school, he was member of the team of Athlétisme. In May 2006, at the time of the Official reception of Deserved this school, one presented a banner to him souligant the victory of the gold medal of its team of hockey over toboggan to Turin, a banner which will be fixed on the walls of the gymnasium of the É.S.C.P. It continues at present its second year of studies in criminology to the Université of Ottawa. Its motivation and its passion one carried out far. He is a resident of Le Bourget in the east of the Ontario.
Hockey on toboggan
Marc practices the Hockey on toboggan and likes the competition. The Hockey on toboggan is not really different from the Hockey as we know it. The payments are the same ones except that in the place of the shoes the players sat on a Luge provided with blades and advance using peaks. Frozen surface is same size and the goals are same size. According to Marc, this sport is very requiring physically but with the good techniques it is easier. To be acceptable with the Hockey on toboggan the players must be reached of a permanent Handicap which affects the inferior part of the body. Marc involves with the gymnasium three times per week and also involves himself on the ice. Before the plays of Turin, the drives on ice were spread out up to five times per week. Each drive was one one hour approximate duration at one hour thirty.
Its experiment with the Plays paralympic of winter of 2006
The paralympic Jeux are a very great competition for the athletes having physical Handicaps. Returned in Turin, Marc took part in several drives per day and was to give a maximum performance in spite of tiredness and the jet lag. Marc appreciated really his stay with Turin and is very proud of his medal. The Canadian team of Hockey on toboggan gained the Gold medal with these plays.
