Marc Aaronson

Marc Aaronson (August 24th 1950 with Los Angeles - April 30th 1987 with Tucson, Arizona) is a American Astronome .

Aaronson made its studies with the California Institute off Technology where it accepted the BSc in 1972. It obtained then the PhD in 1977 with an essay on the photometry near Infrarouge to the Galaxie S. It worked then as professor associated with astronomy with the Université of Arizona. In 1984, Aaronson and Jeremy Mould accepted the Newton Lacy Pierce Prize in Astronomy of American Astronomical Society.

It concentrated its work on three fields: determination of the constant of Hubble H0, by using the Relation of Tully-Fisher, the study of the stars rich in carbon and the speed of stars in spheroid dwarf galaxies.

Aaronson died at the time of a tragedy accident, in the evening of April 30th, 1987 in the dome of the Télescope of 4m Mayall of the observatory Kitt Peak.

The Astéroïde (3277) Aaronson bears its name, in its honor.
