Marc-Armand Lallier

Marc-Armand Lallier (born the December 3rd 1906 with Paris - died the January 11th 1988) was a French monk of the 20th century, which was successively bishop of Nancy (1949 - 1956), archbishop of Marseilles (1956 - 1966) and archbishop of Besancon (1966 - 1980).

Ordered priest the June 29th 1932, Marc-Armand Lallier is named, to the 42 years age, bishop of Nancy the September 26th 1949 and is devoted one month later, the October 28th. There will remain seven years in the diocese of Nancy, before being called by the Pape Pie XII with the archbishop's palace of Marseilles, the September 28th 1956, to succeed Monseigneur Jean Delay, which had just resigned for health reasons.

The August 26th 1966 the pope Paul VI names Marc-Armand Lallier with the archbishop's palace of Besancon.

In October 1977, Monseigneur Lallier, archbishop of Besancon, launches a consultation in favor of the creation of a new diocese, to reduce that of Besancon, too extended, which does not allow a presence of the archbishop on the ground. That will lead to the creation of the diocese of Belfort - Montbeliard by the pope Jean-Paul II the November 3rd 1979.

He resigns the March 6th 1980, at the 73 years age and withdraws himself. He dies the January 11th 1988.
