Marathon of Venice
The marathon of Venice is a test of race on foot of 42,195 km. This short marathon each year in October, on a course which starts in Stra and arrives at Venice, with the church Santa Maria of Salute.
The marathon of Venice is the first Italian marathon recognized by Association off International Marathons and Road Races (AIMS) and registered with the international calendar of the IAAF.
The departure is played Stra, the race skirts then the Brenta river and the famous houses of Palladio, joined the town of Mestre and crosses by the bridge of freedom to Venice. The course follows then lanes and typical quays of the city, then crosses the Large Channel, on a bridge of boats positioned for the occasion.
The first edition of the " Maratona di Venezia" place in 1986 had. The disputed edition in October 2005 accommodated the participation of 7000 athletes. This marathon is popular for the French runners since they represent the foreign group with manpower most.
