Marathon of Athens
The traditional Marathon of Athens is a pedestrian race of 42,195 km. It is one of the most important marathons in the world but less by the sporting aspect that by the symbol which it represents. The race leaves indeed the historic site of Marathon and finishes in Athens in the stage of the first Olympic Games of the modern era (1896). The marathon of the OJ of 2004 also proceeded on this course (victory of Stefano Baldini in 2:10 '). It takes place same Sunday of November as the marathon of New York.

The marathon of Athens 2005 took place the November 6th 2005. At the men, it is James Saina (Kenya) which carried it in 2:16 m 5s.

The marathon of Athens 2006 took place the November 5th 2006. At the men, it is Henry Tarus (Kenya) which carried it in 2:17 m 45s.
