Marathon (canoe-kayak)

See also: Marathon

The marathon is a discipline cousin of the race in line. As its name indicates it, the test proceeds on a long distance, river or lake. The boats respect the payment of the race on line except for the weight of the boats. As example, the single-seat canoes at least make 10 kg and the single-seat kayaks 8 kg. The marathon is carried out on courses from 20 to 50 km with bearings (i.e. an exit of water with the canoe, a possible supply and return on water). It should be noted that there exists in France many races of long distance such as the marathon of the Ardèche, the marathon of Argentat which are open as well to the boats of descent as of race on line. Those Ci do not answer entirely the definition of the marathon FIC and often require a specific material (retractable rudder, paddle reinforced as in descent…).
