Maquis of Vabre
The Maquis of Vabre are an organization of Résistance to the East of the Tarn, which was gradually constituted under the impulse of local personalities. She officially was recognized in December 1943, attached to the secret Armée, under the name of Maquis Russet-red pol. , of the clandestine name of her principal organizer, Guy de Rouville. Approximately 450 men of the maquis are registered, organized, involved and armed for allied unloading.
Within the framework of the WALL, the Maquis of Vabre become the Irregular force of the release n°10, before joining FFI.
The Maquis of Vabre are structured in 3 companies, of which the company Marc Haguenau, mainly made up Jewish men of the maquis taken refuge in the Tarn. The Scouts israëlites of France, created by Robert Gamzon, join the unionistic Éclaireurs (Protestant) to form these mountain maquis which, under the banner FFI, take part in the release of Castres (4500 German prisoners), then will join the 1 {{Re}} French Army, of the marshal of Lattre.
In Bourion, on the heights of Vabre, they lodge and protect the headquarters from the Délégué regional soldier of area 4 (Toulouse), Bernard Schlumberger alias Droite .
More in the East, on a small plate, is the ground of parachuting, Virgule , approved in June 1944 and which will succeed the ground Chénier (in the Lot), compromised by months of use. It will be nevertheless Virgule which will be attacked by German on August 8th, 1944, causing the loss of 7 men of the maquis.
BBC will announce parachutings on Virgule , carried out by RAF coming from Blida (Algérie), by this sentence: Of the owl to the white blackbird, the charger has only 20 balls .
Weapons, supply, money, an American commando of 15 men (OS STALEMATE ), an English major of SOE will be parachuted on Virgule during its a few months of activity.

A team of sabotage, educated by Andre Jamme, alias Beaver , regional saboteur chief, will act well beyond the borders of the CFL 10. 11000 pounds of explosive will be used.
Territory
It extended on 38 communes, of the West of Montredon-Labessonnié to the point Is Tarn, beyond Murat-on-Vèbre.
