Mapu Tai' has was born with Mauke in 1939. Teacher of formation, it exerts at the elementary school of Mitiaro of 1959 to 1962, date on which he becomes the director about it. In 1977, it is named principal college of Mauke, posts qui' L will occupy until its retirement in 1996. In 1999, he is elected at the Parliament in his district of Mauke under the label of the Democratic Party. He takes part in the government as Secrétaire (Assisting Minister) in Education and the Culture.

Mataiapo of the clan of Kakemaunga (Mauke), it is regarded as one of the best experts of the archipelago with regard to the culture maori. He is also type-setter, singer and an excellent fisherman. Married, he is the father of 11 children.
