The maple of Japan ( Acer japonicum Thunb.) is a tree with foliage null and void, originating in the mixed underwood of the moderate forests S of the Japan. It can reach 12 to 15 m in height in a natural state. It belongs to the section Palmata of the Classification of the maples.
