Maple Leaf (Amtrak)
The Maple Leaf ( Sheet of maple , in English) is a train of passengers operated jointly by VIA Rail and Amtrak. The way, length 875 kilometers, connects the station Pennsylvania of New York to the station Union of Toronto, while passing by Albany, Syracuse, Rochester and Buffalo. The train travels during the day and take approximately 12 hours to traverse the way, including two hours for frontier control at Niagara Falls. The train uses the rolling stock of Amtrak exclusively, even if the personnel on the Canadian side is employed by VIA Rail. A change of Locomotive is carried out in Albany.
Canadian side, the line is divided with the train Toronto - Niagara Falls, while it is divided with the Empire Service American side.
Originally, Maple Leaf was a service of the Grand Trunk Western carrying out the connection between Chicago and Toronto. The termini were the Gare Deaborn of Chicago and the Gare Union of Toronto. The train followed a way passing by Stratford, Huron Port, Flint, Lansing, Battle Creek and South Bend. The road between Chicago and Huron Port is now dessrvie by the trains #364 and 365 of Amtrak, the Blue Water.
