Manufacture tobaccos (Morlaix)

the Manufacture of the tobaccos of Morlaix is a whole of buildings located quay of Leon. It was built between 1736 and 1740 according to the plans of François Blondel, member of the royal Académie of architecture.

The October 19th 1995, a Incendie seriously damaged the Toit RUE and one of the wings.

The site was closed at the beginning of the Années 2000 by Altadis (in the past the Seita), then repurchased in 2001 by the Chamber of commerce and of industry of Morlaix to carry out a program of urban reconversion to it. On the 31000 m ² of acquired floor, the CCI programmed to carry out 10000 m ² demolitions and to rehabilitate 21000 m ², of which a half are classified historic building. The project includes/understands the antenna installation of of the IUT of Brest, the creation of residences, the transfer of the Musée of the Jacobins and creation of a museum on the history of the tobaccos with Morlaix, the establishment of companies, in particular in the field of the Biotechnologies
