Eugene Manuel (1823-1901) is a poet, a professor and a politician French.

He enters to the teacher training school in 1843. He becomes professor of second and rhetoric with Dijon, then, as from 1849, with Paris. A Statue commemorates its passage in the Parisian education system in front of the Lycée Janson-with-Sailly, in Paris in XVIe arrondissement.
Its political career is deeply attached to the republic. Principal private secretary of Jules Simon in September 1870, he becomes inspector of the academy of Paris in 1872, then general inspector of the state education in 1878.

Its poetic work takes again the traditional topics of the time: the family, love, pity towards disinherited.
