Manowar

Manowar is a group of Heavy traditional metal American formed in 1980. The group was also described as " Power metal " in the Eighties but at the time this term the same direction did not have that today and indicated simply groups of Heavy traditional metal stressing the power of their music and a warlike imagery.

Biography

Joey DeMaio works as a technician of the low and with pyrotechnics for the group Black Sabbath when Ronnie James Dio (which has just agreed to replace Ozzy Osbourne) presents to him to the guitarist group Shakin' Street which forms their first part. This guitarist is not other than Ross the Boss. They return-account quickly which it have the same common dream: to found the group of heavy the most powerful metal of the world. Manowar then records its first album named Battle Hymns , including the title “Dark Avenger” which is a slow fox trot epic with Orson Welles with the narration (Welles records also the narration of “Defender” which is preserved and worked over again for the album Fighting the world which leaves in 1987). These is the dark voice which opens all the concerts of the group: " Ladies and Gentlemen, from the United States off America, all Hail Manowar ". Their second album, Into Glory Wrinkles , is the first album with the beater Scott Columbus. Their third album, named Hail to England , is mixed and recorded in only six days. Their following albums are Sign off the Hammer , Fighting the World , Kings off Metal , The Triumph off Steel , Louder than Hell , Hell one Wheels (live) , Hell one Training course (live) , Warriors off the World . During this time DeMaio works on the creation of its own label, Magic Circle Music which is born in 2003. This label produces groups of symphonic metal (such as for example Rhapsody off Fire).

In 1983, Joey DeMaio and Ross The Boss sign of their blood the contract with their recording company in order to show their sincere engagement in the universe of the music and their refusal of the easy panacea, of capitalist excesses of the industry of the disc. Fan Convention

July 2005, first Manowar Fan Convention is organized in Germany with Geiselwind during the festival Earthshaker Fest. Several hundreds of fans of all countries make displacement for this single gathering. The access to the building lodging convention strictly is reserved to the fans provided with a step. With the program, according to a drawing lot, meets members of the group like various activities in direct connection with the group and its music (workshops guitar, battery presented by the members and/or their technicians), or more distant but always in the spirit with an initiation with the combat Viking, as well as a spectacle put in scene by the Jomsvikings on the songs of the group. In spite of supposed efforts of the organizers and a rather important tariff, this convention leaves a a little bitter taste in the mouth of many fans who mainly regret not being able to approach the members of the group apart from the meetings of meeting organized in order to be able to speak to them freely, but also the fact that numerical cameras of more than 3 Megapixels (!) are proscribe in the enclosure of convention. But especially, it is the problem of organization which leaves to several tens fans wait hours rather lasting on the level of the grids of the festival than of being able to go to attend the balance of the group which however formed part of the so much awaited services which is most disappointing.

Manowar is the head of poster of the festival (the other groups are Nightwish (for one their last representations with Tarja with the song, congédiée of Nightwish at the end of 2005), Dimmu Borgir, Rhapsody off Fire, Children off Bodom,…), the spectacle which concludes is imposing, the impeccable sound, all the attending members and last of Manowar are on the scene and play together. The title Battle Hymns is interpreted in unison by all the former members (3 batteries simultaneously!). Only shade in the table, Christopher Lee, which should have made on scene the narrations of Orson Welles and those of the new titles, is constrained to cancel its service, it presents its excuses and regrets to the assistance by a video message.

Manowar wants to be to be the noisiest group in the world " loudest band in the world".
