For a strict aerobic bacterium, the culture on all the height possibly accompanied by bubbles shows a breathing nitrates. The reduction of nitrates could be visualized by addition of the usual reagents. Their acidity involves a progressive turn with the yellow of a red medium: a red coloring after addition of nitrite 1 and 2 watch thus well the presence of nitrites.
