History

Of a diameter of 70 kilometers, the lake Manicouagan is the scar left by the impact of a Météorite, there is that 214 million years. According to calculations, this meteorite would have measured 5 km in diameter.

It flows in the river Manicouagan. By doing this, it feeds out of water the Barrage Hydroélectrique Daniel-Johnson (Manic-5). The aforementioned river thrown more in the south in the River the St. Lawrence.

Surroundings

The surroundings are exploited, even overexploited, by the forest companies. The closest cities are Bay-Comeau and Gagnon. The lake is skirted to the east by the Route 389.
