Mangas is a Television channel French set of themes dedicated to the Animes (japanimation).

History of the chain

AB Cartoons is launched in 1996 as the chain youth of the bouquet AB Sat. It diffuses only Japanese cartoons (Anime S) already diffused in the Club Dorothée on TF1.

Vis-a-vis the passion of the teenagers and adult young people for this kind, and with criticisms on violence accompanying these programs little adapted to youth, the chain is renamed Mangas , on September 1st 1998 by taking again the logo of monthly magazine of the same name D.MANGAS (ex-Dorothée Magazine following the stop of the emission on TF1 in 1997).

Mangas is published by AB Sat SA with the capital of 24000000 €, subsidiary company with 100% of AB Groupe.

Programs

Its programming recycles the traditional ones bought at the time of the Club Dorothée like Ken the survivor, Ranma ½, and of course Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z. But the chain proposes also new series such One Piece or Wolf' S rain diffused in original version.

Lastly, Mangas will have given rise to some emissions now stopped, like Galaxie Mangas (animated by Olivier Ligné and Olivier Fallaix) of 2000 to 2003, Défi Mangas an appointment dedicated to the young realizers of court-measurings or Mangas with the chart , a RDV making it possible to the televiewers to vote for the series which they wished to re-examine by the means of an episode…

Today, the chain is the only one to propose with the télévsion in France a semi-monthly magazine of news entirely devoted to the universe manga (mangas version paper, japanimation, video games…) since September 2004: Actu Mangas (since declined on NT1).

Diffusion

Mangas is diffused on AB Sat and is also available with the help of a subscription on the whole of the networks of the cable television operators French, Belgian and Swiss and on the numerical bouquets of remote transmission.
