Mangalore is a town of 400  000 inhabitants in the south of the Karnataka, in India.

Old large port of the kingdom of Hyder Ali, Mangalore is today a center of coffee export and cashew nut. It attracts many students and shelters an important catholic community going up on arrival of Portuguais in 1526. The city could take the name of Mangalooru (or Mangaluru), old local name, like proposed it the local government on November 1st, 2006.
