Mandray

Mandray is a common French, located in the department of the the Vosges and the area Lorraine.

Its inhabitants is called Mandresayens.

Geography

Mandray is a village of Piedmont, included in the Regional natural park of the Balloons of the Vosges. It niche in the valley of Mandresay, small tributary right of the Meurthe, to 10 km in the south-east of the Saint-Dié-of-Vosges. The habitat is dispersed, with several hamlets: High-Mandray , Semi-Mandray , Low-Mandray , Bénifosse , Béhouille , Nold , the Pre one of the Mill , Mardichamp , Raichant (meaning garden in patois), the Angles and finally the Careers . By the collar of Mandray , one reaches Fraize and the Cross-with-Mines. In spite of an indication of 707 m on the panel in edge of road, the altitude of this collar is of 694 Mr.

History

Engagements were held as of 1914 on the territory of the commune. In reprisals, the Germans set fire to the church on August 28th of this same year and shot civilians.
