Mandate of the Sky
The Mandate of the Sky (天命: Tiānmìng) is a concept Chinese appeared under the Dynastie Zhou which made it possible to affirm the capacity of the Emperors of China. It is based on the safety of the Sky which grants its legitimacy to the wise leaders and virtuous but which can to also withdraw their capacity them to control if those have a bad control or are corrupted.
Thereafter, the concept made it possible to apprehend the natural elements like messages of the Sky. The natural disasters were thus perceived like messages testifying to the disapproval of the Sky, which legitimated the people to rebel and lead to a regime change.
