Manda Relative

Manda Relative (1907-1992), born with Montreal, is an artist of Burlesque, actress and humorist having worked on scene, with the Télévision and the Cinéma.

Biography

Manda Parent (of his true name Perreault Marie-Jeanne-Dawn) made his first appearances on " planches" in 1921, at the 14 years age, in the role of Dawn of the part Small Dawn, the child martyrdom.

Imposing figure of the Burlesque Québécois, it obtains its first big role in Montreal, in 1926, with the troop of Arthur and Juliette Petrie. Arthur Petrie had noticed the young actress whereas she played of the supporting roles to the National theater with Pizzy-Wizzy (Avi Rosenberg) and Macaroni (Omer Guilbert). It is besides at that time that Marie-Jeanne Perreault adopts its name of scene. One of its partners, Eugene Martel (known as Joseph), suggests to him taking the name of Manda Parent because this name went better with its own name of scene, and thereafter the couple of actors was made call " Joseph and Manda". Moreover on the program of 1926, one could read " Arthur and Juliette Petrie introduce Joseph and Manda with the headstocks françaises."

It is thereafter, and that for a score of years, all the troops the burlesques ones in Montreal of which most famous of the time, the Ti-zoune troop (Olivier Guimond, father). It also takes part in the famous rounds of " Bolduc " (Mary Bolduc) in the years 1930.

Manda Parent was a regular partner with the many burlesques reviews presented by Pink Ouellette with his colleagues Juliette Huot, Alys Robi, Juliette Petrie, and Olivier Guimond wire and father (inter alia) with the National theater. It, moreover, carried out several rounds in all the areas of Quebec, in the United States and New Brunswick with the troop of Jean Grimaldi.

As of its opening to the autumn 1967, it made the beautiful days of the Théâtre of the Varieties of Gilles Latulippe during many years with other Québécois actors of its generation such Olivier Guimond, Pink Ouellette, known as Poune, Paul Desmarteaux, Jean Grimaldi and Juliette Petrie.

Starting from the beginning of the year 1970, the career on the finished roads, Manda Parent on television undertakes his career and with the cinema with many presences with the television program Symphorien (in the role of Mrs Pigeon) and also with the cinema in " Colombes" , which was followed of " Bingo" , then of " Speak to us about amour" , three (3) films of Jean-Claude Lord. André Brassard offers the occasion to him to give its full measure to the film " It was once in the east " (1974) where it incarnates Germaine Lauzon, character coloured straight left the part " The beautifulones; of Michel Tremblay. Manda Parent died at the 85 years age on August 3rd, 1992.

Sonia Vachon interprets the role of Manda Parent in the TV-series " Dear Olivier " (1997) and it is with Lise Dion that one entrusted the role of Manda Parent in the film My life in cinemascope (2004) which reports the life of Alys Robi.
