Manching

Manching is a Bourgade of High-Bavaria ( Oberbayern ) attached to the district ( Landkreis ) of Pfaffenhofen year der Ilm in the south-east of Ingolstadt.

Geography

The town of Manching gathers the villages of Alt Manching, Donaufeld- (Siedlung), Im Wechselfeld, Oberstimm, Niederstimm, Pichl, Forstwiesen, Westenhausen, Lindach and Rottmannshart .

History

3rd until the 1st century before our era, the site had been occupied by a Celtic Oppidum . A portion of the enclosing wall is visible close to the entry of the factory of EADS (transverse section protected showing the layers from enlarging). Excavation S archaeological, Celtic metallurgy (museum).

The village belonged since 1505 to the duchy of Neuburg-Sulzbach and the court of Reichertshofen. It was attached to the principality of the Prince voter ( Kurfürstentum ) of Bavaria starting from 1777. The administrative reform created the current city by municipal decree in 1818.

Political life

The current mayor (2006) is Otto Raith (CSU). He succeeded in 2002 Albert Huch (List of the voters without label). The tax incomes of the city were assembled in 1999 to 6,151 moi€, including 1,351 moi€ of professional taxes ( Gewerbesteuer ).

Economy and infrastruture

On the aeronautical installations located in the vicinity immediate are a Flight test center of the German army ( Wehrtechnische Dienststelle WTD 61) as well as an important industrial site of EADS (Military Air Systems): production and maintenance of military aircrafts (Eurofighter, Panavia Tornado, AWACS, C-160 Transall, Breguet Atlantic, Sikorsky CH-53 Stallion; Lockheed P-3 Orion etc).

Employment

The site of EADS and it flight test center (the WTD 52) of the Bundesamt für Wehrtechnik und Beschaffung (BWB) are the most important employers of the city.
