Manau

Manau is a French group whose music is a mixture of Rap and of Celtic Musique created in 1998. It was then composed of Martial Tricoche, Cédric Soubiron and Herve Lardic. Today, these two last do not form any more part of the group.

Biography

In 1998, the Parisian trio is in the best record sales with the song the Tribe of Dana , mixture of rap and Celtic music and Reprise again of the Breton traditional song Tri Martolod (popularized in the Seventies and 90 by the interpretation and the arrangement of Alan Stivell, also recorded by some other artists), which remains classified number 1 in the Top 50 during step less than 12 weeks consecutive (26 weeks of presence in all). The group is thus propelled on the front of the scene in France, then in other countries such as the Germany, the England, the Canada, the Suisse and even the New Zealand.

After having sold two million individual, the group delivers its first Celtic album Panique , which is a very large business success. Several other individual were tubes in 1998 and 1999 ( But which is the weasel? also n°1, the future is a long past n°30, the Confession n°32, or it song-title of the album classified n°9). A round of more than 120 dates in the world was followed from there.

Composed of Martial Tricoche, Cédric Soubiron, RV Lardic, Loïc Taillebrest, Grégor Gandon, Laurent Meliz, the group proposes its musical interbreeding, using texts touching with topics often light and fêtards, sometimes major and moving.

Shortly after success incipient from the group, RV Lardic will leave it in order to carry out a career solo. It left an album, Air-V , with mitigated success and continues its life of artist under the name of RV Trezen . In spite of this departure, Martial and Cédric continued to write and compose of the songs. They gained a Victoire of the Music in 1999, for the best album rap/groove of the year.

In 2000, the return of the large Manau Tribe, with a second album entitled Fest Noz de Paname . There too, it was a success, with in particular individual the Everyone has Need For Everyone classified n°16; and the group left again in round in many cities. This album is in particular the occasion to find Maurane, on the song the Headstock .

In 2003, Martial agrees a pause and carries out its first album solo, entitled First Step . The album is with the image of the artist: deep and festive at the same time.

Lastly, on January 10th 2005 leaves One can all dream , which marks the return of the group after four years of absence. If he were not a great success, this album nevertheless gave place to a new round in France, Suisse, Belgium and Czech Republic. This round extended during spring, the summer and the autumn 2006 and presented the second album solo of Martial. The dates for the majority were given in festival to openair, and the public was with go.

In 2007, three major events for Manau. First of all, Cédric leaves the group, and consequently Martial and Laurent Meliz alone assume Manau. Second event, Martial ensures only the promotion of a new title, Meuhnumental , which is used as fine credits with the emission Intervilles during the summer 2007. Lastly, on November 12th left their Best-of, at the time of the 10 years of the group!
