Manaan

Manaan is a planet of the fictitious galaxy of the Star Wars

The splendid Manaan planet is a world ocean. It was, during the civil war of the Jedi, one of the most attended most famous planets and galaxy, by excluding Coruscant. The principal exported goods are the invaluable kolto, a legendary remedy which was much more powerful than Bacta. This food product allowed the rise of Manaan in the galactic celebrity, but it was also put under the control of the Sith and the République. But, Selkaths, beings Amphibians autochtones of planet, succeeded in preserving a firm neutrality in the war, by selling its kolto with the two factions in an equitable way. But this neutrality was worth a recovery of the local laws, which had become so strict, that whoever threatened peace, would be immediately put at death.

To allow the outward journeys and arrivals of the tourists or traders, Selkaths built the splendid one and resplendent city D' Atho. But one day, the sources of Kolto disappeared, a mysterious way. The legends tell that it due to anger or to had died of Progéniteur, giant a Firaxan shark, mythical ancestor of Selkaths. But they were there only legends never proven. Deprived of its Kolto, and following its victory vis-a-vis Sith, the Republic ignored planet. Then Selkaths, which understood that to sink in the lapse of memory was disastrous for them, required their adhesion of the Republic. But she refused, considering planet useless.

In front of this refusal, Selkaths left Atho to the abandonment, and turned over in the Autarcie, while being promised not to leave their enfermement never again. In less than one century, the hierarchy had been destroyed, and from the conflicts for the authority were born. Selkaths were divided then into small isolated clans. Thousands of years during, they remained in the deep ocean, forgot their golden age, their technology and the use of the BASIC.

During the galactic Empire, rare was those which remembered this world. But the Emperor, him, knew it, and knew that it contained very invaluable secrecies. The imperial army unloaded on planet and reduced Selkaths remainders in slavery without any difficulty. The town of Atho was rebuilt by the Empire and it became again a tourist astroport. Selkaths, then slaves, lived on artificial small islands created thanks to old wrecks found in the sea. But the Empire paid attention to pollution little that their exploitations generated, and the sea became uninhabitable for Selkaths, which had lost hope to be released from this slavery. After the defeat of the Empire, no one does not know what occurred of Selkaths survivors…

The Manaan planet appears in the video game Star Wars: Knights off the Old Republic .
