Man-plant

The Man-plant is super-unpleasant universe of Marvel Comics, appeared for the first time in Strange Tales #113.

Origin

Born in London, Samuel Smithers worked in a botanist on the mental activity of the plants. He left to the USA where he continued his experiments on the communication between the man and the plants. Education lack, it was engaged as gardener by Morris Evans, who laid off it because it preferred to work on his inventions that to garden. He invented by chance a gun which animated and controlled the plants and tried to steal its former owner but the Human Torche destroyed its weapon.

A few months later, it manufactured a gun-plant again and wanted to be avenged for Johnny Storm. It failed. At its coming out of prison, he was enlisted by the Count Néfaria and became lieutenant of Maggia, just like the Porc-épic and the Anguille. They attacked the X-Men to touch a ransom but were overcome.

He fought against Namor and Triton by attacking London with Léviathan, a giant organization made up of algae.

Needing funds to constitute its research, it was done replaced by a vegetable clone of itself and controlled remotely it, but the quartet which it had formed with Eel, the Scarecrow and the Porcupine were overcome by Captain America and the Faucon. A second clone was overcome by the Dr. Strange, Power Man and the Red Guardian.

Its most ambitious plan was to seize a base of HYDRA with the assistance of an army of vegetable clones and to capture the president of the USA, but the Vengeurs succeeded in beating his secret weapon, a man-tree of 30m top.

Capacities

Thanks to its inventions, the Man-plant can animate, increase the size and control the plants. They can move and to have an intense physical-activity. the range of the ray is of 500m.
the plants are varied and can be poisonous, to send spores, étrangleuses, carnivorous…
