Mammoth Records

Mammoth Records was an independent label of music launched in 1989 with Carrboro in North Carolina. It published very varied artists of which Squirrel Nut Zippers, Juliana Hatfield, Victoria Williams, Frente, Joe Henry, Machines off Loving Grace, The Melvins or Jason & The Scorchers.

The label lost its statute of an independent company in 1993 when it joined Atlantic Records. Unfortunately association was not beneficial (perhaps because of the president Jay Faires) and the label became again independent in 1997.

In 1998 it passes by again at the statute of subsidiary company but this time of the Walt Disney Company. Faires leaves the company since 1999 with the near total of its team. Disney réogranise the label around a new president Rob Seiendberg and integrates it into the Buena Vista Music Group.

In 2003 Disney closes the buildings of Mammoth Records and amalgamates the label with Hollywood Records.
