Mamadou Konaté is a politician, born in 1897 with Kati (French Sudan, current Mali) and deceased on May 11th 1956 with Bamako.
Mamadou Konaté becomes teacher after studies at the teacher training school of Gorée (Senegal). He teaches in various localities like Bafoulabé, Matina, Kolokani before taking the direction of the regional school of Bamako.
In 1937, it created the Trade union of the teachers of French Africa Western.
In 1945, it founds with Modibo Keïta the Sudanese Bloc, which becomes in October 1946 the Sudanese Union, a section of the African democratic Rassemblement (GDR).
Elected official appointed in 1946, it sits at the French National Assembly within the group of UDSR and is member in particular commission of state education and overseas territories. The list of GDR east arrived in second position after that of Left Sudanese progressist (PSP) Fily Dabo Sissoko. In 1951, list GDR arrives again in second position and Mamadou Konaté sits again at the National Assembly.
At the time of the elections of January 1956, the list of GDR exceeds that of PSP. Mamadou Konaté is elected with Modibo Keïta. With the National Assembly, he is elected vice-president. Little time, reached afterwards of a Hepatitis, It dies on May 11th, 1956.
