Malvira

Malvira has been a Marionnette atypical high-speed motorboat of Belgian television (RTBF) for more than twenty five years. Created and animated by the actor of French origin Patrick Chaboud directing of the Magic Land Theater.

The puppet appears accoudée with a table under which the organizer hides. This one not being ventriloque is not visible of the public. Animation is done with a hand according to the principle of the glove puppets, the other hand, gantée, figure that of the character and makes it more expressive.

The character

Hurdy-gurdy ugly woman with the éraillée but however sympathetic nerve, disrespectful and subversive voice it does not hesitate to use coarse words and to spit bruyamment (what is worth to him to be regularly censured).

Biography

Towards the end of the years seventy (seventy) the Magic Land Theater hitherto itinerant is fixed in Belgium. Malvira in the beginning witch appears in the middle of other characters in the puppet show: “The Queen Claude has pips” given to the ground floor of a house of Brussels. It is there that the remark a programmer of the radio French-speaking Belgian television (RTBF) in search of a new concept of emission for child. It will be Lollipop (1979 - 1985), emission worship where Malvira will form with another beginner: the actor Philippe Geluck, a removed from rim duet which will gain an unhoped-for success near the public marking a whole generation of children and follow-ups by many adults for his very new tone for the time. Of 1985 with 1989, it connects with the emission Nouba, Nouba. During this period the serial of animation will be produced: “True story of Malvira” (26 X 12 minutes) from which the starting idea is drawn from White-Snow, but reversed: to become queen of Laideronie, imaginary kingdom, it is of course necessary to be ugliest. After ten years of crossing of the desert during which it morfond at the bottom of its bag, it carries out its like back televisual in the emission: “Allumés.be” (2000 - 2003) at the side of the organizer Jean-Louis Lahaye for a public of adults this time. Sourer than ever it disorientates more than one guest. In 2003, it will be stolen (removed?) with the car of Patrick Chaboud. What will do the one of the Belgian press and will cause a sharp emotion as well as the call of many personalities with its restitution. It will be fortunately returned what will enable him to occupy its place during the fifty years the emission commemorative of the RTBF. This same year, publication of its biography: “You, your mouth! ”. After one layoff, it carries out its return to the image beginning 2006 in an emission which is entitled: “My tele good liked”, also diffused on TV5.

Official Mondanity and recognition

In spite of its repeated proposals addressed under the eye of the cameras to the prince Laurent of Belgium, this one preferred another choice.

In 2002, inauguration with Flobecq by the minister Rudy Demotte of a bronze statue represent Malvira in the simplest apparatus.

In 2004, it is decorated officially by Madam Fadila Laanan, Minister for the Culture of the French Communauté of Belgium.
