Mallorn
The mallorn (plural mellyrn - the word is Sindarin) is a tree invented by J.R.R. Tolkien present in the fictional universe of the Ground of the Medium. The word Quenya to indicate it is malinornë (plural malinorni).
The mellyrn are described like resembling the beeches in the shape of their branches and their sheets. Their bark smooth and of color gray-was silver plated, and their sheets became gilded with the Automne. The gilded sheets remained on the tree all the Hiver and fell to cover the ground in spring, when the new sheets pushed. Those green on the top and were silver plated in lower part. Gilded flowers pushed in bunches. Frodon Sacquet explained why it could feel the life in the trees when it touched the mellyrn in Lothlórien. The fruit of the mallorn was a nut with a silver plated shell.
The trees mellyrn pushed in the beginning on Tol Eressëa and probably on Valinor. The Ñoldor probably introduced the mellyrn in Gondolin while arriving out of Ground of the Medium, but all the trees were destroyed with the city. The Elves of Tol-Eressëa approtèrent the trees mellyrn with the men of Númenor. They pushed on the shores around bay of Eldanna in this country. Even Tar-Aldarion, the King manufacturer of boats, did not cut any of these trees.
The nuts of Mellorn were offered by Tar-Aldarion to his/her friend Gil-galad, the King of Ñoldor de Lindon. The mellyrn did not push in Lindon, but Galadriel carried some nuts with it in Lothlórien, where they pushed and reached immense heights. Lothlórien gained the name of " wood doré" because of the mellyrn.
Caras Galadhon, the town of Galadriel and Celeborn in Lothlórien, was built in the branches of enormous the mellyrn. The community spent the night in a platform on a mallorn and one gave them after lembas wrapped in the sheets of the tree.
Galadriel gave to Samsagace Gamegie a ground box containing a silver plated nut of mallorn. After the war of the Ring, Sam planted nut in the County, the Field of the Festival, where the Tree had been formerly held of the Festival. It was only the Ground mallorn of the Medium out of Lórien. When the tree flowers the year according to, all the Comté became gilded thanks to the flowers. It is said that many newborns or designed this year 1420 were fair, rare thing in the County.
