Magic Malik ( Malik Mezzadri ) is a flutist of Jazz French born in 1969 with Abidjan in Ivory Coast.
It grows with Point-with-Clown in Guadeloupe, where it takes courses of Recorder and Flute. It integrates then the conservatory of Marseilles, where it at the time of playing in the group of funk Human Spirit in which it remains during 10 years. It intervenes then as a sideman at the sides of Susheela Raman, - m, and in Groove Gang or the Gambit project of Julien Lourau.
It leaves its first album as a leader in 2000, 69 96 at Blue Label (after a first opus from now on exhausted, HWI Project , in 1997). It is one of the very rare jazzmen to be devoted only to the flute, which is usually a second to see third instrument for the Saxophoniste S. His lack of power and its weak expressivity make indeed its use delicate. The originality of Magic Malik, in addition to a technique and an irreproachable sound - what is not always the case of the saxophonists/flutists - is its exuberant play and the use of many cries and chantonnements in its flute. Its improvised language particularly adapted to the instrument gave again a true place with the flute in the jazz. Like with the beer bottle, well-known wind instrument that one will have seen it using at the time of the last concert to the Uncontrollable cabinet of the Julien Lourau Groove Gang.
