- In Phytoremédiation one discovered that for corn, of the malate is emitted by the cells of the ends of the roots when aluminum in the ground activates a protein of membrane encodée by ALMT1 (this gene first is discovered in a plant specie which fulfills this function of adaptation to aluminum, and also the first gene discovered encodant an entirely new type of transport of protein). The positive ions of aluminum and those negative of the malate bind easily, and aluminum is thus neutralized when with the damage for the roots.
