Male artistic gymnastics

The male artistic gymnastic is a discipline consisting in connecting lifting movements on six different tackles (one also speaks about apparatus or machine): ground, the pommel horse, rings, the jump of horse, parallel barses and the horizontal bar. The whole of the movements and the possible sequences on each tackle is governed by a Code of pointing.

The ground

It is about a square of dynamic carpets of 12 m out of 12 m called usually practicable . This Agrès requires a great tonicity, in particular to carry out lifting series on the diagonal. Rondades, flips, saltos (back rotation or front rotation) and others gimlets are carried out in more or less difficult combinations.

At the time of the competitions, certain movements are obligatory: balance with waltz , circles of legs (the same ones as those carried out with the pommel horse).

It should be noted that to this tackle, commun run with the female artistic Gymnastic , the female gymnastes presents a sequence in music, contrary to the male gymnastes which carry out their sequence in silence.

The maximum duration authorized for the sequence is 70 seconds.

The Pommel horse

The pommel horse is the tackle of balance par excellence. It is a question for the gymnaste of connecting series of scissors and circles resting against the hands, without losing balance nor to fall on the horse balanced must arrive at the level of the chin. If it is not very perilous, this tackle is surely one of most difficult because of the little of latitude than the gymnaste has to catch up with its errors, it is regarded as the pet peeve of the gymnastes. In the beginning the coating of the pommel horse was out of leather. It from now on is composed of synthetic matter. The frames are made of wood varnished. Dimensions:
  • Height: 115 cm (including 20 cm of carpet of reception)
  • Length: 160 cm
  • Depth: 35 cm
  • Height of the frames: 12 cm
  • Distance enter the frames: of 40 cm to 45 cm (adjustable)

The Rings

The rings are the tackle requiring the most force. The sequence consists in alternating elements forces some (often at the beginning of movement: iron cross, boards, swallows) with phases of dash (suns, the moons, left saltos). The gymnaste must endeavor to make so that the rings do not balance during its movement, which, taking into account their freedom, requires a great power. The rings are made of wood varnished and require the manic use of .

Dimensions:

  • Height: 275 cm (whose 20 cm of carpet of reception)

  • Distance enters the rings: 50 cm
  • Diameter of the rings: 18 cm

The Jump of horse

This tackle consists in jumping using a springboard over a table of jump by carrying out a lifting movement, and this, after a race of dash. One of the simplest jumps is the jump by inversion (or " lune") by taking support with the hands on the horse and while passing by the reversed support. But the gymnastes complicate these acrobatics with leisure by adding salto S, gimlets (of the turns on oneself) after the installation of the hands or a Rondade before the arrival on the springboard. Will tsukahara, for example, consists to make a rondade on the platform and to connect it with a back salto grouped, carp or tended. At the time of the international competitions in team only one jump is authorized but into individual the gymnastes have the right has two jumps. This tackle is also used by the female gymnastes.

Dimensions:

  • Height: 135 cm

  • Length: 120 cm
  • Depth: 95 cm
  • Race of dash: 25m (maximum)

The Parallel barses

With the parallel barses, the gymnaste must alternate phases of dash and/or flight with phases of stop and balance. With the program: balances in force, square S, but also of the suns, rockers, released of bar or of the exits salto. The parallel barses are one of the tackle comprising the most elements recognized by the International federation of gymnastics (FIG). The bars are made of wood varnished and thus offer a certain mechanical flexibility.

Dimensions:

  • Height 195 cm (whose 20 cm of carpet of reception)

  • Length 350 cm
  • Distance enters the bars: of 42 cm to 52 cm (adjustable)

The Barre fixes

The bar consists of metal. It is held between two posts made themselves fixed by the use of tended cables. The bar offers a certain mechanical flexibility however. To illustrate the many possibilities of the machine, a modern exercise with the fixed bar is a dynamic presentation connecting of the elements of dash, rotations and the flying parts without stop carried out close and far from the bar in various catches. The fixed bar requires the use of manic.

Dimensions:

  • Height: 275 cm (including 20 cm of carpet of reception)

  • Length: 240 cm
  • Diameter of the bar: 28 mm
