Malcolm Arnold

Sir Malcolm Henry Arnold (born the October 21st 1921 with Northampton - died the September 23rd 2006 with Norwich) is a Compositeur and British Leader.

Biography

He studies with the Royal College off Music before joining the Philharmonic orchestra of London as a Trompettiste (he could have become possibly first trumpet). At the end of the years 1940, it is devoted mainly to the composition. It is promoted commander in the Ordre of the British Empire in 1970, then anobli in 1993.

Arnold wrote several film musics, gained Academy Award for the Bridge of the River Kwaï in 1957, also collaborated in the music for " The Beautiful off St Trinian' S " (1954), " The Inn off the Sixth Happiness" (1958) and " Whistle Down the Wind" (1961) among others. It directs the Philharmonic orchestra of London during the recording of the Concerto for Group and Orchestra group Deep Purple in 1969, and the Symphony orchestra of London for the Gemini Suite of Jon Lord.

Its work is particularly popular among the young orchestras and amateurs, for the easy play, and also by the accessibility of its style, which combines elements of jazz, folk and popular music.
