Malavoi is a musical group born in the Années 1970. CAUTION: Malavoi is not to in no case a group of Zouk, the bond is present on this page only because of the fact that this kind is currently most known in metropolis of the West-Indian musics.

Origin of the group

Malavoi is in the beginning a group inhabitant of Martinique, more precisely foyalais (Fort-de-France), which reactualized successfully the traditional music inhabitant of Martinique (Biguine S, Mazurka S, square etc) via contributions of Salsa, Latin-jazz and cuban Musique, the whole being decorated of a section of violins which makes all the identity of the group.

However, Malavoi is also known for its collaborations with the other large ones of the West-Indian music, such Kali, Tanya Saint-Valley, Edith Lefel, Bethova Obas and the journalist Marie-Jose Alie between others.

The most known singers of this group are Ralph Thamar, Paulo Rosine and Pipo Gertrude. This group also generated " spin off" such Fal Fret' and Palaviré. For the anecdote, malavoi is a variety of Canne to sugar.

Success

Malavoi is with Kassav' the major group of the French West Indies of the Seventies to 90, generally making full house in regions as distant as Japan.
