For any other fighter, one 7-0 makes it possible to be classified among the thirty first of division on the banzuke according to; thus two 7-0 consecutive is necessary to be promoted jûryô.
The fighters classified in the very first rows of division and combatant for a place in jûryô can have to make a combat against a fighter jûryô, in this case that is belonged to the seven engagements that a fighter must make, that is to say exeptionnelement, in the event of wound of a sekitori for example, as an eighth match. This combat is generally made by a fighter right now makekoshi at the time of his seven usual matches. It is ignored if it loses and entered if he gains, thus offering a true no-claims bonus and ainsiune to him falls less in the banzuke according to.
The makushita term can also be employed to indicate each of 4 divisions in which the fighters are regarded as being in formation. Within this framework, a fighter of makushita will be a fighter of Jonokuchi, Jonidan, Sandanme and naturally of division makushita itself.
