Makin is a Atoll Kiribati, in the archipelago of the islands Gilbert. It is located just at the north of the equator.

Its surface is of 6,7 km ² and has a population of 1.700 Gilbertin S.

Formerly, called Little Makin, small Makin, because Makin also applied to Butaritari.

The island was the theater of a raid of the navy during the second world war.
