Makie Otono-Tachibana is a character drawn from the universe of the Inhabitant of infinite the .

Cousin of Anotsu, it appears in volume 2 and like the majority of the members of Ittô-Ryû, it seeks to kill Manji. Makie is in fact a vagrant, who was driven out of her family to have caused the indirect death of her brother and heir to the family (it had committed suicide after being beaten in duel by her). She will want to return to the Ittô-Ryû to find her cousin with which she is secretly in love (even if it is about an open secret). To prove its value it will thus try to assassinate Manji. It will try by twice overcoming it and will gain the victory over the final combat, but will save Manji after having heard the petition of Lin

In fact Makie seems to have two facets in its personality. First Makie and soft and unobtrusive, whereas the second is much more violent. Nevertheless as soon as it stops fighting, it becomes again normal. Under the impulse of violence, Makie warlike superhuman and is completely dehumanized, but also very fragile. It will become opium addict during his exile and will try to be mutilated to give up the Way of the Saber, but it will be saved by Anotsu and will end up taking again the weapons. One really does not know where it is in this moment, after the destruction of the Shingyoto-Ryu.

Makie remains the only one to have overcome Manji in singular combat (Higa did it after it but it had been helped by Hanada and Uruma). A thing is sure, it largely forms part of the strongest people of the manga at present (even Anotsu estimates to have few chances to overcome it). With the combat it uses a tri-stick to which two blades of Naginata are attached, this weapon names Harono Obana . Usually it hides it in its Shamisen.

O-Hatsu

Hatsu is the mentor of Makie and is especially its owner in the establishment where she works. Just like it, Hatsu is a ex-prostitute. Hatsu tries to leave Makie the prostitution although she acknowledges that is impossible to make completely. Makie regards it a little as his/her late mother.

Fuki Otono-Tachibana

It is the cousin of Saburô Anotsu and the mother of Makie. Few things are known on it, but it is known that it was repudiated by her husband, when Makie killed (indirectly) his/her brother. Makie will try to kill his/her father to have driven out his mother because little time after their Fuki departures committed suicide, which Makie never forgave with his/her father.
