Maketo

Maketo is a term scorning which wants to say Métèque in language Basque, used by Sabino Arana and other nationalists Basques of first half of the 20th century, to designate the many immigrants, of the poorer areas of Spain, come to the Basque Country attracted by its rapid industrialization.
According to Sabino Arana, the “invasion maketa” threatened the racial, moral purity and nun of the Basque people.
