Make Poverty History was a British coalition charitable organizations, nuns, trade unions and celebrities, created in 2005. Make Poverty History was founded on the principles following: to cancel the debts of the third world, support concrèt and a system of trade balanced between the rich countries and the poor countries. The symbol of the countryside was a cotton stringcourse which carried the word poverty (poverty). There existed also the virtual stringcourses for the personal sites on Internet.
The countryside was related to the priorities of the British Gouvernement, for example with the presidencies of the G8 top and the European Union, and at the commission of Africa. That shows the opinions of the Prime Minister Tony Blair (1997-2007) with regard to the countries in the process of development. Make Poverty History constituted an important movement in the media. The example of the special program of the The Vicar off Dibley , written and realized by Richard Curtis, is often quoted.
Events were organized everywhere in the United Kingdom. With Édinbourg, a concert was organized to promote activism and to increase the political pressure. In France, Sail 8 destination Cherbourg encouraged the protests and the demonstrations.
