Comment
This last album of the four American accomplices sounds prédédents very differently: the sound purified but for as much effective of the first album, electro sonorities with the Pinkerton sauce or the formatted songs of Green Album still now discussed, made place with diversity for Weezer, and the return of the deep texts. The album opens on individual the Beverly Hills and its impressed verses of irony. First report: the relational deficit of the singer/guitarist Rivers Cuomo is not field of the past, and he always as much is tortured and folded up on itself. It is true that the recording of this album was not something of obvious. The producer Rick Rubin judged good to engage a psychotherapist so that the group goes from the front one.
The three following titles are interesting: Perfect Situation and its lines of keyboard carried out with talent by Beautiful the Brian guitarist, This Is Such has Pity and its obsessing side old school , moving it Hold Me which shows weak Rivers Cuomo, completely only.
Peace is, as its name indicates it, an anthem with peace. Side of the ballades, all the ingredients are there to make shiver ( The Damage In Your Heart , Freak Me Out , Haunt You every Day ).
Finally, the weak point of this album resides for many amateurs of the group in two titles that some will be able nevertheless to appreciate: My Best Friend and Forgiveness Me and their words “want-you-being-my-buddy-for-the-life”.
