Canada
The major-general is a military Grade in the Canadian Armed forces. One shortens this term by “Mgén”.
This rank is the equivalent of rear-admiral in the Canadian marine .

In uniform, it carries a broad gallon on the sleeves of the tunic () and its badge of rank on the shoulders ().
The United States
In the US Army, the US Marine Body and the US Air Force, the rank of Major-General is lower than that of Lieutenant-general and higher than that of Brigadier. An American Major-General is as called a Général two stars because of the badge as it carries.Major-general is the equivalent of Rear-Admiral in the US Navy. In the Body of the Navy divisions are ordered by Major-Generals, whereas in the Air Force they order Numbered Air Force S. the generals two stars of all the weapons are also used as staff officers of high ranking for the Pentagone.
United Kingdom
In the British armed and the Royal Navy, the rank of Major-General is lower than that of Lieutenant-general and higher than that of Brigadier. He is thus low of the ranks of general officers. Major-general is the equivalent of Rear-Admiral in the Royal Navy and Air Vice-Marshall in the Royal Air Force.
The Divisions are generally ordered by Major-Generals, they also occupy grinds functions of staff.
France
Within the central level of the National marine, the general major of the navy, is charged, to assist the Chief of staff of the navy in the exercise of its organic attributions and in its role of advising of the chief of staff of the armies for planning, the programming and the format of the navy like for the establishment of the doctrines and the use of the maritime forces. He takes care of the coordination of the action of the State Major of the Navy with that of the State Major of the Armies. He represents the Navy within the ministerial mission of assistance to piloting.
