Majel Barrett (February 23rd 1932 with Columbus -) is an American actress .

Gene Roddenberry had located it on the turning of The Lieutenant , the first Televised series of the creator of Star Trek in 1964. It had tried to impose Majel Barrett in the episode controls The Cage in the role of Number One (Number 1), officer as a second of WORN Enterprise of a coldness and an extreme logic. The persons in charge of the chain NBC did not want this role: a woman second in command of a spaceship, it was not possible at the time. Roddenberry created then the role of the nurse Christine Chapel so that the actress takes part in the adventure.

Roddenberry and Barrett marry the August 6th 1969 in a Buddhist temple. The actress lends her voice to the computers of Enterprise and Enterprise-D in the traditional series and Star Trek: The new generation . In Star Trek: The new generation , it holds the role, mild nutter, of Lwaxana Troi, the mother of the adviser Deanna Troi.
