Maillezais

Maillezais is a common French, located in the department of the the Vendée and the area Pays of the Loire.

Geography

In the middle of the Marsh poitevin wet still called Venice green, Maillezais is sprinkled by the channeled Autize.

History

The city is selected like sits of new a évêché in 1317, in dismemberment of évêché of Poitiers.

January 1st 1589, during the wars of religion, the city is taken by the Protestant Agrippa of Aubigné, which becomes governor about it. It there with the guard, as from August, of the cardinal of Bourbon.
