The mayor Gerard Schivardi, Socialist (ex PS), also general adviser of the Canton of Ginestas, was introduced on November 18th, 2006 to the presidency of the Republic by the collective of the mayors of the National committee for the Reconquest of the Public services and the Democracy, supported by the Parti of the Workers, under the denomination " candidate of maires" (and either " candidates of the maires" after an filed appeal by the Association of the mayors of France). It obtained 0,3% of the votes cast with the 1st turn of the election at the national level and 50,7% in its commune.
